Sewing with silk knit fabric

This fabric has been waiting for its purpose for a very long time. It was labeled with silk but must have some small amount of stretch (lycra) to it too. It’s only stretchy crossways but wouldn’t give in the least bit lengthways. Let me tell you, it was a pain to be sewing. But ooooh if you could only feel the fabric, it’s sooo soft to the touch <3

Raglan Dress

Only very few hours before the testing of the new Simply Raglan Shirt pattern ended, i had to whip up one more example. I’ve been keeping this fabric in my stash for about 3 years and have always been waiting for the perfect pattern to use. I’m pretty confident that THIS is it! I absolutely love how it’s draping nicely around my body and shimmering whenever i move.

Summer dress

With the Festival Saison on the door steps, i always feel like i need to make something special just for this occasion. To be dancing in front of a stage all day/night long, i might better but a pair of hotpants underneath, maybe with some lace finish? But at least i wont get too hot in this dress plus i finally found the one hairstyle for my still rather short hair. What do you think, is this a good look for festivals or is there anything you would improve on it? Let me know in the comments 😉

Jump high

When i was looking for a pair of matching shoes for the pictures i realised: i don’t have any purple or lilac shoes! So i ended up doing the pictures with bare feet, standing on my heels without the support of actual shoes. Or simply jumping aroung 😉 The pictures were taken by my daughter again, she’s starting to develop quite some talent with the camera! Only while preparing myself she had to complain: ‘Momma, don’t you think you’re kinda overdoing it with the makeup?’. Uhm, no i don’t think so but i’m also glad she doesn’t like it much yet. I bet that’s gonna change soon enough…..

Simply Raglan Dress

Do you even know why i love dresses that much? Other than with shirts & pants you only need one single piece of clothing. Never have to worry if two things match, just grab the top piece in your wardrobe and you’re fully dressed! Plus if it’s such a fast sew as this raglan sleeve shirt (or rather dress with my added 15cm/6inch length to the hem), i definitely will sew some more for this summer. And fall. And winter 😀 You can never have too many dresses. Until sunday you can grab the pattern on a special release offer of 50% off!

I hope you enjoy summer and the sun as much as i do and maybe even relax or dance in one of these dresses yourself soon?
Love, Carina

Tester Call

Every few weeks it is time again, I have tons of new ideas and one or the other finds its way to paper and is implemented. In addition to all the rather elaborate pattern, it takes in between fast, simple projects that are sewn in no time. Just like the new Basic pattern, the ‘Simply Raglan’ shirt.

Raglan Shirt

As the name suggests, it is a pattern with raglan sleeves. It is nicely flowing around the figure and therefore suitable for all who usually complain in my designs that are mostly rather slim fitted 😉

Style it!

Of course, the patter, even though it is quite basic, still has a few different ways. Apart from breast darts for smaller or larger breasts (yes, the shirt should still make a good figure!), You also have the choice between a V-neck and round neck as well as 4 different sleeve lengths.

The pattern has already been tested and graded in sizes 32 – 50/2 – 20. To apply, just leave a comment with a link to your page (blog, FB, Insta, etc) and write briefly why I should have YOU right there. Sewn is from the end of the week for about 10 – 12 days.

I am looking forward to seeing you!
Yours, Carina

A little bit of Fashion

Sometimes i get those crazy ideas in my mind, the kind i need to actually make immediately cause else they’ll haunt me for days. Now sewing a new bodysuit was on my list for quite a while already, they are just so incredibly comfy and practical. No more cold hips, no more undies showing when sitting down.. You see my point? But as a bodysuit alone doesn’t make a whole outfit, there had to come something else.

Scream!

Now i just had to have this picture. It’s pretty much ME, showing me the way i am. Probably insane at times, funny and silly. Standing there in my high-heels, skirt & bodysuit in the middle of winter, while one storm after another is picking up, combined with a lot of rain. Luckily, my friend muckelie is very patient with me, especially when all my poses and expressions just suck. Telling me where to look at and how to put my hands, we made a few decent photos in the end.

Tulle and polka dots

Here’s for the crazy idea i mentioned above. A skirt, made with tulle fabric. The thin polka dots have been hidden in my stash for many years already, waiting for its purpose. Directly underneath the dots, i put a layer of white tulle to make the polka dots somewhat more visible. Next i added 3 layers of ruffled tulle for a lot of volume. And since the tulle is quite sturdy and cratchy, i lined the skirt with a thin lining fabric. Now all of this adds up to a total of 6 layers. I bet you can fully understand why i was cussing in several languages while sewing the skirt 😉

Blue Fashion

After a rather long time, i finally managed to make myself one of those ‘typically Sewera’ outfits again. Haven’t done one of those for a while and i missed it. I get this special kind of feeling, excitement when i plan it and then again when it’s done. Don’t get me wrong, i love my basic everyday outfits very much too, but it’s just different when the clothes have some ‘extra’ to them. Even if i have to insert a zipper into 6 layers of fabric 😉

I hope you like my new outfit as much as i do and would love to hear what u think about it in a comment 😉

Yours,
Carina
