Summer, sun, holidays. That’s exactly what the fabric of my new Summer Dress is screaming about. That’s why I bought it on the market a few years ago, because it called so beautifully for wanderlust. The wonderful motif appealed to me directly, I love such picturesque little towns <3

Unfortunately the fabric is made of polyester (yes I know – shame about me that I have such plastic things at home…), but he had to wait a long time for his project. Because I just didn’t want to wear him so much on my skin. But with the Summer Dress it’s no problem at all, because here almost only the facing is on the skin and it’s made of romanite jersey (there’s at least one part made of cotton) 😀

Instead, the fabric falls even softer and better for the pattern, which is precisely designed for thinner jerseys. A true hint of nothing, which nevertheless dresses well. Now I just have to see when I can finally go to the sea myself. While I’ve never felt homesick before, I’m often plagued by wanderlust…

For my standards the pictures are really banging, but hey the new pattern deserves it! A total of more than 90 pieces were made in sample sewing and that in a very short time, so I’m also allowed to hit the drums *smile*.

Whether with straps or like me my version completely without, whether with a bra insert or only simple facing – from the mini to the maxi dress almost everything is possible with the Summer Dress 😉 And before it is said again that the pattern is only for people of my age and with my figure: I also sewed one for my mum (fabric for the second is waiting…) and as much as I love mummy, but she can’t keep up with my age or body size (and that’s a good thing – imagine if she wasn’t much older than me!). :-O )

As you can easily see from the photos, I once again ended up in a photo studio, there I am rather seldom because white wall and I are not quite as good friends. But when the photo wall is pink, yes, that’s where I’m going to be 😀 At Artman-Photography I won’t have stood in front of the lens for the last time, super nice ambience and the atmosphere was very exuberant. You can see it too, can’t you? 🙂

I hope you like my new pattern so much and until Monday you can also benefit from the introductory price!

Love, Carina

It feels like yesterday she was still my little girl… Okay, she will always stay that in a way. But now my daughter wants to be cool and big. And she would love to have my clothes too. So what does mummy do when she sews herself a new shirt? She simply sews two 😉

I already knew that I wasn’t the only one in the family who was totally into Leoprint. So when I picked up the fabric, I immediately had the idea to make a partner outfit out of it. So first I sewed my shirt and put it on my daughter. Here and there i had to pin some excess fabric off, luckily she is not as big as me yet. Pattern adapted to her size and shirt number 2 was sewn in a swift. I may consider myself lucky, she looks up to me in many things and I enjoy it very much to be allowed to be her role model. I am fully aware that this is neither a matter of course nor that it will remain so for the next few years. Although, of course, that would be very nice.

We have grown even closer together since we started homeschooling half a year ago. We have become an unbeatable mother-daughter team. It gives us both an incredible amount of time to spend together. Of course it’s not always easy, even here we fight sometimes. But that simply is part of family life. Nevertheless I may be her support and she – together with my son – my life force. The photoshooting for today’s pictures was also a real family act. All three of us got to use the camera. For the partner photos here I put the camera on a tripod and Junior was allowed to press the button.

Daughter also took one or two pictures of me to hold my new Slimmy Shirt a little from a little closer up. After all, this is the centerpiece of this post, because it is the current #patternoftheweek and therefore reduced to half the price in the shop. I think this pattern is one of the most sewn in my collection. But it’s also so nice and versatile, from long sleeves to short sleeves, as a shirt or dress and with an additional subdivision for a spaghetti strap shirt/dress, everything can be sewn from it.

After the first test part here I optimized the pattern again a little bit in the teens size and so there will definitely be some more Slimmy Shirt teens for the daughter this summer. At the moment I’m considering if there would be a need to offer the pattern in a few child sizes. What do you think, would your teenage daughters be interested in this as well?

As you can see, love and solidarity are very important to us – I wish you all such a great relationship too. And let your kids like to be sewn for as well. You only need to find the matching material & pattern 😉

Enjoy the soon to be weekend!

I don’t know how many of them are already hanging in my closet, but one more is always possible. And one more… 😉 Seriously, the little black one always fits! It belongs definitely to my absolute favorites, no matter which pattern and which fabric. As long as it’s black, tight and short.

Or as in this case here: with a very deep back! Yes I have done it again, but I also like backless extremely. After the requests for a peplum arose during sample sewing, I also had to sew one, of course. At first I wasn’t so sure if it fits me at all. But now on the finished dress I like it really very much <3

It looks so feminine to me and since I am rather flat, I can use every rounding well (in the right places of course most of all 😛 ). A stretch Bengaline was used as fabric here. It’s elastic lengthwise but the pattern is also printed crosswise, so I just turned the pieces 90 degrees. The very fine grey print is so discreetly unobtrusive from far away, but from very close it really looks good!

How good it is that I still have a few more meters of it, I will still make jeans and a skirt and mummy has already thrown an eye on it as well 😉
For the photos here we were really lucky, in the morning it rained again and again (see puddles), but around noon it was very friendly and even quite warm. So we went straight out and took advantage of the light.

Again I was able to persuade Romy, a mom from our homeschool room, to take some pictures – she is doing really well behind the camera and I am totally happy with the pictures. A different background does some good for once 😉 The funny thing is: We’re right next to a school here – you should have seen the looks of the occasional students who walked by (all so nice pubescent..) *snicker*

After the complete failure of the social media yesterday, my nerves were also pretty exhausted. How am I supposed to get in touch with my sample sewers without being able to contact them and upload all the pictures to the e-book? Now with a lot of good persuasion it worked out very slowly and the Y-Dress is online. You can now also sew yourself a copy, or even a few? I have 5 pieces so far and there will definitely be more! The fabrics are already screaming to be sewn 😛

But attention: The Y-Dress is not for absolute beginners, it requires some adjustments if you don’t correspond exactly to the measurement table. Just like with all pattern for close fitting woven fabrics – but that’s why we sew to not wear the uniform mush in oversize, but to see what it really fits well 😉

And now happy shopping – until and including Monday the Y-Dress is available on sale for only half price <3

This year there will probably be many more blouses in my daughter’s closet than T-shirts for the summer. Since she got the first ones, she likes to wear her woven posh blouses much better than jersey shirts. Someone has probably developed a new preference 😉 Well, I’m happy about it, I think they look great on her too!

After one round of watching GNTM, she now poses confidently in front of the camera (even more than before…). I discovered the fabric here at Schnittverhext for design sewing and took it directly – without asking the child. Was a stroke of luck, she thinks the dream catchers are just as great as me <3

We had some bad luck taking pictures, though. Nice hair style, ironed blouse, packed camera and photo suitable weather. And then? The battery of the camera is simply empty! So the photos had to be taken with the mobile phone. How good that today’s smartphones can really keep up. Thanks to Portrait mode I can look at them now also in 3D *smile*.

On her way to the location she was astonished to see that the pattern is exactly in the middle. Then I first explained that I am an absolute pattern nerd. Of course, the little heart in the middle of the dream catcher has to be placed exactly in the middle of the fold.
Now I need a few more matching fabrics to sew more summer pieces for my daughter, so I’m shopping for some fabrics…

And I can recommend you pattern and fabric quite much, they harmonize so well together.

The fact that I have a preference for black & grey is probably no secret. All the more I enjoy my new Valentine Dress in beautiful grey. It doesn’t look like a grey mouse at all, I think it looks even very elegant, the marble fabric reminds me of expensive houses with noble interior <3

The light offshoulder dress was just perfect for the material, I wanted to sew a Valentine Dress again for a long time anyway. This is really the first one since the end of the test sewing over a year ago!
For the photos I went to our homeschooling room without any children (who were on holiday with my dad) – there are some great mommies and one of them I got persuaded to take some pictures. Thank you very much! 😀

This time I shortened the sleeves a bit more, I prepare myself so diligently for the summer – they just had to be short. By the way, the great fabric was sponsored to me by Graustufen Stoffe – I only recently discovered them (they are also still quite new on the market) and with the motto ‘every fabric contains gray’ I very much liked them immediately 😉

If you want to sew the a dress as well, you can also get the Valentine Dress on sale now, as #PatternoftheWeek it’s in the shop until and with Monday for half the price.

Enjoy the coming soon weekend,

love, Carina

X-Form

The X in this dress is destined to put a special focus on our waist. Whether you already got a very slim waist or not, this pattern is supposed to make it look really slim. At least that was what i had in mind when designing the new pattern. First i wanted to call it X-Mas Dress, but i don’t want anyone to think you can only wear it for christmas, so now it’s just the X-Dress.
The parting lines are not only pretty, they also hide breast darts, allowing the dress for a great fitting. It’s made with two separate front pieces for either bigger or smaller breasts.

Slim waist

The black side pieces make up an extremely gorgeous detail for a very sexy look. The dress has a straight hemline as well as the V-hemline shown here. You can also choose between a V-neckline or regular round neckline. All sewn with a facing for a neat finish.

Did the X-Dress already get your attention? It’s perfect for winter, this one sewn with a punta di roma fabric, a very thick knit fabric. But it’s also possible with about any stretch knit fabric like sweatfabric or cotton & viscose knit for summerdresses if you rather like to get a short sleeved dress.

I took my daughter into the forrest for these pictures and was constantly giving instructions on how i want the photos to be. Accordingly to this, my expression is also rather unrelaxed. But she did a really great job! We even ended up using our short trip as a science lesson. Since i’m homeschooling her, we learn new stuff pretty much everywhere we go. Right now we’re focusing on nuts, so we picked up some acorns to study them at home. Learning is so easy and can be done everywhere!

But now let’s get to one of the probably more interesting part of this post:

It’s time for a new tester call! You already heard about some details of the dress. If you would like to support me for my pattern testing withing the next about 3 weeks, please leave a comment with your size (the dress is made for sizes 0 – 20 / german size 32 – 50). Remember, christmas is already coming soon and you might be very glad to already have your dress finished a few days ahead 😉
Please also add a link to your blog, FB page or Instagram account so i can have a look at your pictures.

I’m looking forward to having you in my team!

Tester Call

Every few weeks it is time again, I have tons of new ideas and one or the other finds its way to paper and is implemented. In addition to all the rather elaborate pattern, it takes in between fast, simple projects that are sewn in no time. Just like the new Basic pattern, the ‘Simply Raglan’ shirt.

Raglan Shirt

As the name suggests, it is a pattern with raglan sleeves. It is nicely flowing around the figure and therefore suitable for all who usually complain in my designs that are mostly rather slim fitted 😉

Style it!

Of course, the patter, even though it is quite basic, still has a few different ways. Apart from breast darts for smaller or larger breasts (yes, the shirt should still make a good figure!), You also have the choice between a V-neck and round neck as well as 4 different sleeve lengths.

The pattern has already been tested and graded in sizes 32 – 50/2 – 20. To apply, just leave a comment with a link to your page (blog, FB, Insta, etc) and write briefly why I should have YOU right there. Sewn is from the end of the week for about 10 – 12 days.

I am looking forward to seeing you!
Yours, Carina
