Every year it comes again, the day of roses, of lovers and lots of kitsch. Actually not something I like at all, but if I have a reason to sew a new dress… Yes then I like even such a day 😉 And how great that just today the new pattern ‘Love Dress’ goes online. The perfect pattern for the perfect Valentine’s Day dress.

Well, actually everything was supposed to be different. The dress had been planned since the middle of December. I had also ordered enough fabric to sew great partner outfits. But it all turned out different.. My supposed to be Mr. Right had other plans and dumped me at the beginning of January. So there was all the more fabric left for me. Or more so for my mom (she got a great X – dress) and my daughter (for her there was a Co-Z Dress Kids).

Well, the Valentin’s date thing didn’t work out then – but I’m taking my daughter to the cinema tonight. I find this a more than worthy replacement <3 Such a mummy – daughter evening is also simply worth gold.

Talking about Gold: The Squiggle here is also from the Winter-Gold Edition, I already showed you the same fabric in white a few weeks ago. I was sooo blown away by the fabric that I also had to order it in black. Again I decorated the stripes with countless hotfix stones to make it glitter even more. This time the stones are black, matching the basic color of the fabric.

The snow was a great contrast to the dress for the pictures, unfortunately it is long gone again. Not that I like snow itself, but on photos it just looks very pretty 😉 By the way, under the dotted tights I still wear some skin-coloured ones, so I was surprisingly warm! But the dress also fits the body very well, mainly because of the curved bust darts, which make the whole pattern so special.

To make sure that you can soon go out on the street in such a great dress too (or to the office or to a delicious dinner or to the next party…), you can buy the pattern now. This time it was really tested to the limit, 90 design examples were made during the testing! I would say that speaks for itself, wouldn’t it? 😉

Well, isn’t she adorable – my daughter? Sure, that’s what every mother says about her children 😉 From time to time my daughter gets some new clothes from me and then it’s time for a photo shoot. And because there was so much snow outside, we had to get out in spite of the cold!

This dragonfly fabric has been in my stash for a long time. Originally I planned it for a blouse for myself. But after I had him in my hands I knew the blouse would never been worn and only collect dust in my closet. And the fabric is way too nice for that! I still think it’s really pretty, only the colour doesn’t suit me. Lucky for the daughter, so she could claim it for herself 😉

Yes it was really cold, but that only hardens her immune system and of course she wasn’t forced or bribed – as a young ‘misses Sewera’ you do such things voluntarily <3 And she is really growing, slowly getting older even if I still find it much too early. She was just my little girl. Now she stands there like a model and I am totally happy about the new pretty photos. The fabric was ironed, by the way. With emphasis on ‘was’ 😉

I also really like the pattern very much, the pleats at the neckline look really nice, but not too much romantic. Simple but elegant is the motto here. And I hope that the child doesn’t grow anymore for a while now, so that she gets something out of it for as long as possible. She doesn’t even want to take off her Posh Blouse Girls anymore! I see that as a compliment.

From now on you can also get the pattern for this enchanting children’s blouse, because it appeared a few hours ago!

I wish you a lot of fun with it,
love, Carina

A woman can never have enough of the little black dresses. Whereby, actually at present I only have 2 pieces. Today’s winter dress is by no means new, strictly speaking it was created exactly one year ago. But today I was on the way with my mum to take pictures of something still very secret (shhhhht, will be revealed soon!) and I needed a complete outfit, so I took this dress again.

Since the Winter Dress is now available as #PatternoftheWeek at half price, it was just a great opportunity to take some new photos of it. It’s one of my absolute favorite dresses anyway, so I might as well show it a little bit more often 😉

As you can see here, I didn’t just discover the Hotfix stones and sequins for myself, but started a while ago. The heart here on the dress is combined, first I pre-stitched the heart shape, then I defined it with straight lines. Only then I added all the little stones and sequins.

The thing about posing… I often hear from friends that I always look so great on photos. Now MY opinion is rather different. Usually I have no idea how I should put the legs (see first photo – oh so very elegant *cough*), what I should do with my arms and where and how to look, I do not even begin. In the end I often like such pictures, which are more likely to be regarded as *Outtakes*. But they are more natural – just me 😉

Now I have to get back to work on what I just threw over Mama’s arm for the pictures. So that you can see it also quite soon <3

It’s so unusually bright. No, unfortunately not outside. But my dress is. You could almost think I look innocent *smile*. Okay, I don’t think so. But I think it’s elegant. But maybe it’s more because of the golden stripes and less the white underground?

Since the winter edition of the Squiggles from Nipnaps has a slight ‘blingbling effect’ by nature, it inspired me to spice it up a bit. They are used far too seldom, my Hotfix stones. But here they just fit perfectly. The fabric was predestined to glitter a bit more. I didn’t count the stones, but it took me a while to fix them all.

You can’t see them from a distance, but when the light shines in the right angle, they reflect the light and it glitters and sparkles <3 The WOW effect comes out more and more the closer you get to my dress. I particularly like that when it looks simple, but there’s a lot behind it. And you only see that at second glance…

One of the reasons why I like the winter dress so much and sew it over and over again. From the front it looks simple and elegant, only from the back you can see the sexy deep back neckline. I don’t know exactly how many of the winter dresses I’ve sewn in the meantime, but there are some. And there will follow even more!

Maybe it can move into your wardrobe soon too? The Winter Dress restarts in the of the #PatternoftheWeek action and is thus reduced from today to Monday by 50%. If that’s not a reason to grab it now 😉

The fabric was a birthday present from my dear Mrs. Nipnaps <3 He feels really great, all cuddly and is also something good for the environment. It consists of 60% recycled fibres! I like to advertise for it, apart from the fact that I think the Squiggle is really great and I had to add more colors. Soon you will see even more, apart from the Co-Z Men which I already sewed in the yellow version in autumn. You see, the pattern really impressed me!

But now back to work, there are more patterns that would like to be finished and a lot of sample sewers waiting for a selection.

Recently I showed you on Facebook what is next for me. Now the dress is decorated with the pearls and I can finally show it to you in full splendor <3

For quite some time I wanted to sew a really elegant winter dress again. First I thought of a stretch velvet, that shines so beautifully and looks also really noble. But finally I decided on a warmer fabric, the happy fleece in dark purple here.

For the noble touch I sewed on some pearls and sequins in diligent manual work. I admit, to cuddle the dress is perhaps not quite so practical. But hey, it looks great and sometimes that just counts more 😉 After all, it is very cuddly from the inside with the fabric.

Mama said ‘don’t look so well-behaved’ in the photo – as if she was trying to say that I wasn’t well-behaved. Hmmmm, is she right? *smile*

Well, then how am I supposed to stand there and look? Maybe not do it at all, then you also see that I can look very well also totally unsuitable. But hey it’s about the dress and not about me! I made the pattern completely new – I already promised you with the children’s blouse that there will be something for us ladies again very soon. So here it is.

The ‘Love Dress’ captivates by its simple elegance together with round curved bust darts. These give the dress a very special touch and as you can see, it doesn’t have to be boring. With a few fine details you can make a lot more out of it very quickly. And if you like it rather discreet, nothing stands in the way.

Now you are asked, would you like to be a tester for the Love Dress?

  • Pattern in sizes 32 – 50 / 2 – 20
  • Bust darts for A-C Cups and D+ Cups
  • Waist darts in the back
  • Slightly flared A-line
  • As the name Love Dress suggests, it will be released on Valentine’s Day. Deadline is therefore 12.2.19
  • It is sewn from stretch materials such as happy fleece, stretch sweat, romanite, knit fabrics, etc.

Well, are you in? Then apply with a short sentence (or 2, 3, 4…) about yourself and leave me a link to your page.

I am looking forward to you!

Kids blouse

My children have both grown very quickly lately, and by the time I had finished a few things, they were almost too short again. Nevertheless, there are still self sewn clothes and I hope that I can catch up again. At least until the next growth spurt comes. In today’s project it was the daughter’s turn. Something elegant is missing in her wardrobe at the moment, mostly it will be very fast sweaters and comfortable trousers that I sew her (or she sews herself sometimes…).

I know, I used to say I didn’t do children patterns anymore. But if you don’t find what you want but do really badly want to sew it…. What do you do then? Exactly, the design the Posh Blouse for girls.

The blouse comes exactly like the one for ladies with pleats at the neckline and different sleeve lengths. Only the bust darts are missing 😉 It is sewn from soft flowing woven fabrics, like this non-elastic velvet.

Taking photos is always a challenge for us, on the one hand I feel more comfortable in front of the camera than behind it and on the other hand I have the ambition that the photos will still be great. To relax the child a bit I told her to make a grimace. The picture was created in the process. Well, this is how I see her every few days anyway 😉 But most of the time we are really a great team. Except if I want to give her hair some volume. And of course she agreed to show the picture here. After that we could laugh about it.

The new filters on my phone are great, by the way, you don’t even need to edit the photos anymore *smile*.

But now to the main topic of the post: Yes, the pattern should be tested! And I am looking for some volunteers to support me.

  • Patterns in sizes 110 – 152 (child’s height in centemeters)
  • Photos with child, but face may be nicely hidden (with hat, mask, detail…)
  • Planned publication on 31 January – Feedback & photos must be submitted before this date
  • Nice people who help each other and apply in complete sentences

Have I aroused your interest and you have a child at home to whom you would like to sew a simple but elegant blouse? Then apply now here under this post or on Facebook or Instagram with a link to your page, the size you want to sew and why I should take you.

I’m looking forward to seeing you!

It is just before Christmas and in house Sewera, we’re working under high pressure. So much was planned for the Advent season that only now I get to show you the new shirt. The Feel Free Raglan is – as the name suggests – another Raglan shirt. It has gathered sleeves, is loosely cut from the chest down and has among other things a rounded hem.

When I drew the first sketch for it last spring, I thought it would be more of a pattern for my mom and I will probably wear it less. And guess who has to sew one or two of the shirts for herself in the few next days? 😉
The design was created within the framework of the Sewunity Advent calendar. There we were already asked many months ago whether we would like to participate. Just as early we had to have a design ready and indicate what it would be. Accordingly, the e-book has been finished for quite a while now. Only I was late with the photos again, i had some for the design examples but these here were taken only this week. *coughing*

After I noticed at my party last weekend that two dear friends meet for photos in my favourite location, I immediately joined them. As you can see, I wear ‘only’ a leggings to my shirt for once, when I usually wear it only for sports or under a dress. I also wanted to tell you why. It is rather still a taboo topic. But since there are so many places where they are broken lately, I wanted to give my thoughts to one of them 😉

I’m talking hairs. Not the one on the head. For a little more than a year now I have been going to a very dear lady for sugaring. Because even if the nobody except my boyfriend sees this spot – FOR ME it is important that the pubic area is free of it. Because then I feel better. I know, you’re only supposed to talk about it with good friends, but why actually? It concerns all of us. Sure, it’s not equally important to everyone, but it’s important to me. For years I have cursed, always managed to get small wounds from it.. Sugaring is painful – that’s right. But it lasts for some time. And it lasts longer and hurts less after a few months. Or you simply get used to the pain by going there every few weeks. Since I had such an appointment again in the morning before the photos, you see me there now also in the leggings. Because jeans – as comfortable as they are – don’t get close to leggings. Something pinches too fast. And even if I always hold on to the saying ‘if you want to be pretty, you have to suffer’, comfort more important to me, the older I get. Therefore today to the Feel Free Raglan for my conditions quite atypically a Sporty Leggings in addition. Because between you and me: At home I almost only walk around with it anyway 😉

Do you also have such favourite pieces for beauty days or any quirks that are not normally reported on in public? Let’s get rid of such taboo topics together and tell your stories!

In between I have to put a ‘little black’ in my wardrobe again. And since I have several occasions in the last month of the year to wear pretty dresses, I can never have enough of them! So it was time again for a warm, cuddly sweat dress.

Oh how practical, when after a long time there is finally a new pattern in sample sewing. And then it fits so well to the season! The X-Dress is a reference to Christmas (X-Mas) and especially elegantly designed.

Well, whether skulls are really that festive is arguable. But I didn’t sew the dress for christmas. A few days before I’ll be a year older. Today to be exact. Therefore it is also rather a birthday dress 😉 I got the super soft sweat fabric from Amy&Luke for the design sewing and it is so soft that I would like to sleep in it!

By the way, here you can see how the curls look like, which I mentioned in the last article to the morning coat. The sample sewing for the X-Dress has been finished for a few minutes now and the pattern is now available for you to buy. And because it’s my birthday, I would like to give you a little present. There is a suuuuper great introductory price of only €1.80/$2.13.

The dress can also do a lot, by the way, it contains hidden bust darts for smaller or larger bust sizes (there are two separate front parts for this), a detailed instruction to adjust this, in addition waist darts are drawn in the back to make an even better figure and to counteract a sway back. In addition there are 2 different necklines, which are elegantly trimmed with a facing. And for the hopefully soon coming sun there are also 4 different sleeve lengths. Well, already convinced?

You still have a few days until Christmas and can sew yourself such a great, festive dress <3

I’m looking forward to seeing your own interpretations of the pattern 😉

Sewing pattern: X – Dress by Sewera (now on sale for only €1.80/$2.13)

X-Form

The X in this dress is destined to put a special focus on our waist. Whether you already got a very slim waist or not, this pattern is supposed to make it look really slim. At least that was what i had in mind when designing the new pattern. First i wanted to call it X-Mas Dress, but i don’t want anyone to think you can only wear it for christmas, so now it’s just the X-Dress.
The parting lines are not only pretty, they also hide breast darts, allowing the dress for a great fitting. It’s made with two separate front pieces for either bigger or smaller breasts.

Slim waist

The black side pieces make up an extremely gorgeous detail for a very sexy look. The dress has a straight hemline as well as the V-hemline shown here. You can also choose between a V-neckline or regular round neckline. All sewn with a facing for a neat finish.

Did the X-Dress already get your attention? It’s perfect for winter, this one sewn with a punta di roma fabric, a very thick knit fabric. But it’s also possible with about any stretch knit fabric like sweatfabric or cotton & viscose knit for summerdresses if you rather like to get a short sleeved dress.

I took my daughter into the forrest for these pictures and was constantly giving instructions on how i want the photos to be. Accordingly to this, my expression is also rather unrelaxed. But she did a really great job! We even ended up using our short trip as a science lesson. Since i’m homeschooling her, we learn new stuff pretty much everywhere we go. Right now we’re focusing on nuts, so we picked up some acorns to study them at home. Learning is so easy and can be done everywhere!

But now let’s get to one of the probably more interesting part of this post:

It’s time for a new tester call! You already heard about some details of the dress. If you would like to support me for my pattern testing withing the next about 3 weeks, please leave a comment with your size (the dress is made for sizes 0 – 20 / german size 32 – 50). Remember, christmas is already coming soon and you might be very glad to already have your dress finished a few days ahead 😉
Please also add a link to your blog, FB page or Instagram account so i can have a look at your pictures.

I’m looking forward to having you in my team!

Pictures: taken by my daugther
Pattern: X-Dress (coming soon)
Fabric: Romanit/Punta di Roma (private stash)

Sewing with silk knit fabric

This fabric has been waiting for its purpose for a very long time. It was labeled with silk but must have some small amount of stretch (lycra) to it too. It’s only stretchy crossways but wouldn’t give in the least bit lengthways. Let me tell you, it was a pain to be sewing. But ooooh if you could only feel the fabric, it’s sooo soft to the touch <3

Raglan Dress

Only very few hours before the testing of the new Simply Raglan Shirt pattern ended, i had to whip up one more example. I’ve been keeping this fabric in my stash for about 3 years and have always been waiting for the perfect pattern to use. I’m pretty confident that THIS is it! I absolutely love how it’s draping nicely around my body and shimmering whenever i move.

Summer dress

With the Festival Saison on the door steps, i always feel like i need to make something special just for this occasion. To be dancing in front of a stage all day/night long, i might better but a pair of hotpants underneath, maybe with some lace finish? But at least i wont get too hot in this dress plus i finally found the one hairstyle for my still rather short hair. What do you think, is this a good look for festivals or is there anything you would improve on it? Let me know in the comments 😉

Jump high

When i was looking for a pair of matching shoes for the pictures i realised: i don’t have any purple or lilac shoes! So i ended up doing the pictures with bare feet, standing on my heels without the support of actual shoes. Or simply jumping aroung 😉 The pictures were taken by my daughter again, she’s starting to develop quite some talent with the camera! Only while preparing myself she had to complain: ‘Momma, don’t you think you’re kinda overdoing it with the makeup?’. Uhm, no i don’t think so but i’m also glad she doesn’t like it much yet. I bet that’s gonna change soon enough…..

Simply Raglan Dress

Do you even know why i love dresses that much? Other than with shirts & pants you only need one single piece of clothing. Never have to worry if two things match, just grab the top piece in your wardrobe and you’re fully dressed! Plus if it’s such a fast sew as this raglan sleeve shirt (or rather dress with my added 15cm/6inch length to the hem), i definitely will sew some more for this summer. And fall. And winter 😀 You can never have too many dresses. Until sunday you can grab the pattern on a special release offer of 50% off!

I hope you enjoy summer and the sun as much as i do and maybe even relax or dance in one of these dresses yourself soon?
Love, Carina
